Zuma is excited to announce a new, innovative ink and toner cartridge recycling program that really makes a difference! Help us Do Good Work, and prevent empty ink and toner cartridges from ending up in our neighborhood landfills.
The Facts – Why Recycle?
Each discarded laser cartridge adds over three pounds of metal and plastic waste to our landfills; waste that will take as long as 1,000 years to decompose. It’s estimated an incredible 400 million inkjet printer cartridges and 100 million laser printer cartridges are produced each year. Remanufacturing these 500 million cartridges saves an estimated four million cubic feet of landfill space. (1)
More than 3 quarts of oil are used to produce each laser cartridge. The plastic used in each printer cartridge takes more than 1000 years to decompose. (2) It just makes sense to recycle and reuse these cartridges that are piling up in our landfills.
How Does It Work & How Can I Get Started?
It’s simple, easy and free. Instead of discarding your empty ink and toner cartridges in the trash, Zuma will provide you a free recycling box. We will also include a free prepaid UPS shipping label, so when your box is full of discarded cartridges, simply affix the shipping label and give the box to UPS for free shipping.
We then work with our recycling partners to ensure that the cartridges find a new role, either as a remanufactured ink or toner cartridge or as recycled components used in everything from playground equipment to office furniture.
Where Do The Cartridges Go?
Every empty cartridge received is evaluated; first for refurbishment and second for material recovery through recycling. A remanufacturable cartridge is disassembled and as many components as possible are reused. Cartridges that are non-remanufacturable are disassembled, sorted into material types and recycled. This “Closed-Loop” Environmental Process ensures that every component of the empty cartridges collected is either remanufactured or recycled.
We accept ALL printer cartridges from ALL manufactures for re-use or recycling. With the help of our strategic partners we are pleased to offer our customers a new, robust, comprehensive environmentally responsible way to recycle used ink and toner cartridges.
Help make a difference! Do good work by preventing empty ink and toner cartridges from ending up in our neighborhood landfills, and help conserve our precious energy resources.
